Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an innovative teeth-straightening system that uses a series of clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into optimal positioning. It’s a great alternative to traditional metal braces and can improve most of the same orthodontic concerns.

Some of the alignment issues Invisalign can correct include:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Open bite
  • Gapped teeth
  • Mix of baby and permanent teeth
  • General misalignment

While there are some extreme cases where braces would offer a better treatment path, Invisalign can address most common alignment issues. During your initial consultation, Dr. Rosenblatt will advise you if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Many men and women prefer Invisalign to traditional metal braces for aesthetic purposes. Your aligner trays are virtually invisible once they’re in place and you can smile and speak normally throughout your treatment.

Invisalign is more comfortable than traditional metal braces. There are no sharp brackets rubbing against your cheeks and no wires poking the soft tissues in your mouth.

Invisalign also makes it easier to keep your teeth clean during treatment. Brackets and wires provide numerous places for plaque, food particles, and bacteria to hide, and make brushing and flossing far more challenging. With Invisalign, you simply pop your aligners out and go through your normal dental care routine, then pop them back into place.

How does Invisalign work?

During your initial appointment, Dr. Rosenblatt uses a digital scanner to gather images of your teeth and other oral tissues. That information feeds into the proprietary Invisalign software, which can show you what your smile will look like after treatment.

You’ll have a chance to ask questions and learn how the Invisalign system works. If you decide to move forward with treatment, Dr. Rosenblatt can order your initial set of aligners.

Once your aligners arrive, you’ll begin wearing the first set. Wear your aligners around the clock, removing them only to eat, drink, and perform your oral hygiene routine. After a few weeks, you’ll move on to the next set of aligner trays.

Periodic appointments allow Dr. Rosenblatt to evaluate your progress and perform a dental exam and professional cleaning. To learn more about Invisalign, call or schedule an appointment online today.
